Abstract:
In a unipolar world, the United Nations Secretariat plays a critical role in navigating the
complexities surrounding the use of force while balancing power dynamics and ethical
principles. This paper examines the challenges and implications of employing force within a
global landscape dominated by a singular superpower. It explores the Secretariat's
responsibility in advocating for international law, conflict resolution, and peacekeeping
initiatives. The tension between wielding power and adhering to ethical principles is
scrutinized, emphasizing the need for ethical diplomacy and human rights considerations. This
study underscores the Secretariat's role in promoting multilateralism, mitigating conflicts, and
advocating for balanced power structures. Ultimately, the paper emphasizes the Secretariat's
pivotal role in navigating the complexities of power dynamics while upholding ethical
principles in an increasingly unipolar world.
