The Evidence Act 1872, one of the major criminal investigation laws in Bangladesh, includes forensic evidence, highlighting its significance in the country's legal framework. Forensic evidence is used to collect, analyze, and interpret evidence for criminal and civil law or regulatory issues. In Bangladesh, forensic science is essential for law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations to establish the link between crimes and criminals. However, the standard of care is established by a competent authority, and forensic experts must adhere to this standard when presenting evidence in court. The reliability of expert evidence is a concern, and forensic scientists must ensure that their findings are accurate and unbiased. The use and attrition of forensic evidence in the criminal justice system can be a challenge, and it is essential to track and catalog the kinds of forensic evidence collected at crime scenes. Furthermore, the lack of resources and infrastructure in Bangladesh's forensic laboratories can hinder the effective use of forensic evidence in criminal trials. To address these challenges, it is necessary to improve the cross-border cybercrime procuratorial organs system to intervene in cross-border criminal forensics activities. Developing a new approach to the reliability of expert evidence in Scottish courts can be applied to the Bangladeshi context. Ensuring the scientific validity of forensic evidence in criminal courts is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the justice system. Additionally, increasing awareness and education about forensic science among law enforcement agencies, judges, and lawyers can help to promote the effective use of forensic evidence in criminal trials. By addressing these challenges and limitations, Bangladesh can strengthen its criminal justice system and ensure that forensic evidence plays a vital role in the investigation and prosecution of crimes.
