Impact of Dumping & Anti-Dumping Policy in International Trade: A Study

Abstract

This research monograph delves into the multifaceted impact of dumping and anti-dumping policies within the framework of international trade. It examines both the theoretical and practical dimensions of these economic phenomena, with a particular focus on their legal implications and effects on global trade dynamics. The study is structured into five chapters, beginning with an introduction that outlines the objectives, scope, and methodology of the research. Chapter two provides a theoretical exploration of dumping and anti-dumping measures, detailing definitions, types, causes, and the processes involved in imposing anti-dumping duties. The third chapter analyzes existing laws, treaties, and international agreements, particularly those under the World Trade Organization (WTO), including an examination of Bangladesh’s legal framework for anti- dumping. The research concludes with a detailed analysis of the global trade repercussions of anti- dumping policies, offering critical insights into their effectiveness and the challenges faced by developing countries in enforcing these measures. Through this study, the research highlights the dual role of anti-dumping policies in promoting fair competition while also exploring their potential for protectionism, thereby influencing international trade relations.
