dc.description.abstract In protecting fundamental freedoms and facilitating access to justice, the Bangladesh Supreme Court is crucial, especially in cases involving Public Interest Litigation (PIL). With its socioeconomic gaps, PIL is a potent instrument for addressing issues impacting disadvantaged communities and protecting basic rights in this developing nation. Cases involving public interest litigation (PIL) typically concern environmental preservation, gender equality, labor rights, corruption, and the Supreme Court's proactive approach in deciding these issues. Individuals and organizations can now bring PIL lawsuits on behalf of people who cannot represent themselves, thanks to the court's expansion of locus standi via its interpretation of constitutional provisions. The court has shown its dedication to justice and tackling administrative inefficiency via important decisions. Still, there are obstacles, such as the possibility of court overreach, delaying in case resolution, and the abuse of PIL for personal or political benefit. According to the findings of the study, there is a pressing requirement for a well-rounded strategy that ensures the court preserves its autonomy while avoiding interference in the legislative or executive branches of government. In order to improve the effectiveness of public interest litigation (PIL) in Bangladesh, it is possible to strengthen procedural protections and increase collaboration among stakeholders. In the end, the function that the Supreme Court plays in public interest litigation (PIL) highlights the significance of the court as a protector of constitutional integrity and a vehicle for social development. en_US
