“Artificial Intelligence & It’s Legal Validity in Bangladesh: A Socio Legal Study”

Abstract

AI is the transformative force of this globe, and it has enormous impacts on governance, commerce, and public services. However, the very introduction of AI into the legal ecosystem poses enormous challenges for a developing country like Bangladesh. The present socio-legal investigation is an incisive critical appraisal of the contemporary condition and current state of AI in Bangladesh, considering its legal validity, regulating framework, and socio-ethical implications. This will study the existing laws of the land that include the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2006, among others; review policies for being adequate to address issues in AI on data protection, accountability, liability, and societal factors that shall include public awareness and levels of digital literacy concerning the application of AI technologies. The comparative analysis of AI governance models in other jurisdictions has therefore brought into light the lacunae in legal and institutional structures in Bangladesh. The study provides recommendations for developing an overall legal framework to ensure the deployment of AI responsibly without violating any individual rights or societal interests. This research has emphasized how innovation should be balanced with regulation so that this paper can contribute to the ongoing global discourses on AI governance from a Bangladeshi perspective.
