Role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Protect Genocide in Palestine: A Critical Legal Study

Abstract

This study critically examines the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in addressing and preventing genocide in Palestine. It explores the legal frameworks, resolutions, and actions taken by the OIC to safeguard the rights and lives of Palestinians. The research delves into the historical context of the OIC's involvement, analyzing key resolutions such as the 2021 resolution condemning Israeli aggression and the 2024 resolution on the protection of Palestinian rights. Through a comprehensive review of legal documents, international law, and case studies, the study highlights the effectiveness and limitations of the OIC's efforts. The findings reveal that while the OIC has made significant strides in advocating for Palestinian rights, challenges such as political interference, limited enforcement mechanisms, and varying levels of commitment among member states hinder its overall impact. The study concludes with recommendations for strengthening the OIC's legal and institutional frameworks to enhance its role in protecting Palestinians from genocide and ensuring justice and accountability.
