This study delves into the escalating global refugee crisis, with a particular focus on Bangladesh,
a nation grappling with an unprecedented influx of refugees. The study aims to assess the
worldwide refugee situation, understand its impact on Bangladesh's socio-economic and political
landscape, and analyze the specific challenges and opportunities faced by Bangladesh as a host
country. Utilizing a doctrinal study methodology, the study relies on secondary data from
sources like UNHCR Reports, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and
governmental publications from Bangladesh. The study explores the global trends in refugee
inflows, the legal status and rights of refugees in Bangladesh, and the challenges and
opportunities for refugee protection in the country. It also examines the socio-economic,
environmental, and security impacts of the refugee presence in Bangladesh, particularly in the
context of the Rohingya crisis. The study concludes with recommendations for improving
refugee support and integration, emphasizing the need for international cooperation, strategic
planning, and a commitment to human rights. This comprehensive analysis aims to provide
valuable insights into the complex interplay between global refugee trends and the local context
in Bangladesh, offering a roadmap for addressing the challenges while prioritizing the rights and
dignity of refugees. |
