Sexual Harassment in Cyberspace : Bangladesh perspectiv

Abstract

Sexual harassment in cyberspace has emerged as a pressing societal issue, permeating various online platforms and impacting individuals globally. This abstract presents a case study focused on the prevalence and implications of cyber-based sexual harassment in Bangladesh .The researcher follows only doctrinal research, which refers to qualitative research, traditional research or library based research. The research aims to shed light on the psychological and emotional toll of sexual harassment in cyberspace on victims, examining the resultant mental health implications and their coping mechanisms. Moreover, the study will explore the social and cultural factors that perpetuate such behavior and influence victim-blaming attitudes prevalent in the Bangladeshi society. In addition, the legal and policy framework governing cyber harassment in Bangladesh will be critically analyzed to identify potential gaps and shortcomings. This examination will involve studying existing legislation and enforcement mechanisms, as well as assessing the effectiveness of reporting mechanisms and support services available to victims. The findings of this research will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on cyber-based sexual harassment, providing valuable insights for policymakers, law enforcement agencies, and advocacy groups in Bangladesh. By understanding the underlying dynamics and consequences of this pervasive issue, stakeholders can formulate targeted interventions and develop comprehensive strategies to combat sexual harassment in cyberspace, fostering a safer and more inclusive digital environment for all individuals.
